THE MOMENT EVERYTHING CHANGED

THEY JOINED FROM THEIR PHONES.

Cas was moving through the Spacedread world on the projector when people in the audience realized they could join from their phones.
They entered the same world.
They started chasing Spacedread across the screen.
Spacedread ran into the digital cinema, pressed play and the real film festival continued from inside the game.
The audience understood the idea by playing it.

This was the moment Spacedread became a place people could enter together.

CHAPTER 01

ENTER THE WORLD

Dusk in the lot. Then the doors, the turf, the palms, and a room that kept changing colour.

Seen from inside the open garage door at dusk, guests gather in the parking lot between parked cars. — The lot starts filling.

The entrance: artificial turf, potted palms, a white mannequin, a painting of two bottles on an easel, a red basket of mango cups and a table with a tropical print cloth beside a wooden loft ladder. — The way in. Turf, palms, paint and mangoes.

CHAPTER 02

PLAY THE FESTIVAL

Nobody photographed their phones, so we went back in. Here is the Spacedread world recreated with ten players, the way it ran on the wall: a crowd chasing Spacedread through the lobby, then packing the cinema while it plays.

WATCH THE STORIES

Screens on every wall. One Take Jake premiered a 30 minute piece, and films and music videos by independent creators played to a crowd.

SPACEDREAD: THE PLAYABLE MEDIA FESTIVAL

THIS WAS THE BEGINNING

Mango Mixer proved that a festival can exist inside a website, across a projector and throughout a real room at the same time.

The next chapter opens the world to more music videos, short films, livestreams, performances, artists and players.

The festival is growing in person and online.
